This section is for those who may be interested in becoming an electrician through apprenticeship. 
Here you will find useful links and basic requirements for application and the processes involved.

- Basic Requirements-

To meet minimum qualifications for Apprenticeship, applicants must: 
  1. Be at least 17 years of age.
  2. Be at least a high school graduate, or have a GED, or have a two-year Associate Degree or higher.
  3. Show evidence of successful completion of: one full year of high school algebra with a passing grade or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade.
  4. Provide an official transcript for high school and post high school education and training.  All GED records must be submitted if applicable.
  5. Submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience.
  6. Qualify for interview using the electrical trade’s aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.  A fee is charged for this test ($20 processing fee at time of test).
  7. Present evidence of a valid driver’s license.
  8. Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of interviewed applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  9. Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of interviewed applicants will be required to provide results of a physical examination and a drug test as decided by the JATC.
  10. Individual who can provide proper (indisputable documentation) that they have worked a minimum of 4000 hours, specifically in the electrical construction trade, do not need to meet the requirements of items b, c, and f. *revised March 2002
  11. Individual who have worked a minimum of 4500 hours as a residential wireman under an IBEW/NECA local Collective Bargaining Agreement (proper documentation required) do not need to meet requirements of items b and c.
  12. Individuals who have completed three years of related instruction and 4500 hours of OJT as indentured apprentices in a properly registered electrical construction apprenticeship program not sponsored by IBEW/NECA (proper documentation required), do not need to meet the requirements of items b and c.
Residency: Applicants must have resided in the jurisdiction of the committee
one year prior to making application.
